The Alberta Association of Academic Libraries (AAAL) Spring 2019 meeting will take place on Friday, May 10, 2019. We’re excited to announce that Olds College Library is hosting the Spring AAAL meeting for the first time! This is a significant change for AAAL as we’ve historically held our Winter/Spring meetings in either Edmonton or Calgary. In keeping with our goal to try something new, we invite you to contribute to our program of professional learning and sharing with the theme of “Out of the Box”.
Out of the Box: We want to hear from AAAL library staff about new service/program design and delivery. If not something new, have you redesigned or reconceptualized an existing service? How did you get from idea to operation? Tell us! We invite staff from AAAL member libraries to submit a proposal to share your experiences, research, and lessons learned.
To add more variety to our learning events we are seeking different types of sessions including:
-
5-7 minute lightning talk that is a quick overview of your ideas, experience, and programs/services.
-
30 minute session that can include ideas, experiences, original research, engaging discussion questions or activities
We challenge you to think outside the box. Never been to a AAAL meeting before? Now’s your chance to connect with AAAL colleagues from across the province. And in Olds, Alberta. Let’s do this!
-
Submit your proposal online by Monday, March 25. Successful presenters will be contacted by Friday, March 29.
-
Seeking financial support to attend and present at the meeting? We encourage you to apply for an AAAL Professional Development Award.
-
Wondering how we’ll select sessions? Take a look at our rubric and use it as a guide for your proposal.
Please encourage your colleagues to consider this opportunity. We look forward to hearing from you!
Kind regards,
AAAL Workshop Committee: Angie Mandeville, Jessica Leslie, and Leeanne Morrow
