Membership is open to Alberta:
- Post-Secondary Libraries
- Special Libraries
Individuals employed in the libraries of institutional members are eligible to participate in association activities and meetings. However, each institutional member must appoint a single voting representative.

Affiliate Memberships:
Affiliate memberships do not include voting rights. Individuals part of an affiliate member group or institution are eligible to participate in AAAL meetings and activities.
Affiliate memberships are available to:
- Students’ associations of Alberta library technician and librarian programs
- Any interested Alberta-based party, upon submission of a request to the Executive Committee for consideration by the voting members.
Membership Fees
- Membership is in effect upon payment of the annual membership fee
- Membership fees are payable no later than October 31st of every year
- Membership shall cease upon non-payment of membership fees for a period greater than 6 months after October 31st.
Membership fees are determined by institutional full-load equivalent (FLE) unless otherwise indicated.
