Working closely with an executive committee of nine members, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) reports to and takes direction from the Board of Directors via the Board Chair. The CEO is appointed by the Executive Committee and assessed by the same. The CEO is an ex officio member of all The Alberta Library committees including the Executive Committee and all project teams. The CEO leads a team of six direct reports including Finance Manager, ORC Coordinator, Licensing Librarian, Training Librarian, IT Librarian, and an Executive Assistant.
The CEO identifies, develops, and prioritizes services, projects, and budgets in alignment with the TAL Strategic Plan and under the direction of the Board. The CEO recommends strategies and services for consideration by the Board to respond to current and future challenges and opportunities. An integral part of the CEO’s role is to review, plan, implement and evaluate TAL services. Through innovation and collaboration, the CEO seeks continuous improvement to TAL’s services for member organizations and for Alberta’s library community. The CEO facilitates relationship building among members from different sectors and from stakeholder organizations.
